Research into potential target audience
Universal classified
Any person above 4 years of old
Our film wouldn’t fit into this category, due to the amount of suspense and terror that will arise thought-out the opening scene e.g. we are going to have the camera following the victim as if the camera is the stalker.
Parental guidance
Is where the film contains domestic violence or a large amount of horror which could scare a few children wanting to watch the film. I think parental guidance wouldn’t suit our film because they will be a lot of cliff-hangers throughout the film and it isn’t ideal for younger children.
12A
This film is only for persons over twelve years of age and can contains certain elements of horror but this category cant have much horror; our film will have horror scenes throughout.
15
No one under the age of fifteen can view this film however; they can be scenes of horror but not reflect pain or injury. Our film will have a variety of horror scenes, but it wont have images of people suffering in pain.
To conclude our film could fit into this category and possibly will have someone kind of strong language which is available under this group.
18
No one under the age of eighteen years of age can access or view this certain type of film. Anyone over the see of 18 should be free to choose what they would like to watch. This can include sex, drugs and strong language. As these aspects are not strongly used in our sequence, it would not be useful to rate our sequence 18.
Conclusion:
I think the most suitable rating for our movie is 15. Although strong horror, gore and religious themes are used, our sequence doesn’t include sex, strong language or drugs. Therefore, the conventions of our scene suitable fit 15.
